INFORMATION
Product introduction
Recreating large siege weapons commonly seen in ancient warfare, scaled down to a desktop version
The torsion catapult, which evolved from the bow and is also known as a stone crossbow, ballista, or trebuchet, was used in warfare during ancient Greece and Rome. It uses the torsion of twisted ropes to launch projectiles. Through the assembly process, you can understand how torsion operates within the catapult and see the important role played by the unidirectional ratchet. This offers an excellent demonstration of scientific and ancient mechanical theories in practice!
The design process adheres to the principles of STEAM education, emphasizing hands-on skills, innovation, and invention. By using wooden educational tools, we aim to enhance calculation, thinking, and judgment skills, and stimulate children's curiosity. Children can take it outside the classroom and use it in open spaces both indoors and outdoors, making it the ideal educational toy that combines learning with play!
|A tory of Catapult|
The catapult, a siege weapon from ancient and medieval times, was used to hurl stone projectiles, boulders, or explosive materials at enemy walls, within cities, or at military formations to cause destruction. In Chinese, the term "砲" (pào) is the noun form derived from the ancient verb "拋" (pāo), meaning "to throw." Originally, "砲" referred to the trebuchet and its projectiles. After the Tang Dynasty, it also came to denote incendiary materials launched by trebuchets. By the Song Dynasty, it included fire-starting and explosive materials. From the Ming Dynasty onwards, it also referred to large-barreled firearms.
